My name is Mr. Soth but please call me Maestro or Profe
because Soth sounds very strange in Spanish because of the silent “h”.
I look forward to working with you as your teacher this school year.
I know it will be a rewarding experience for all of us.
A
little about me: Before beginning
at Northwest, I had been teaching Spanish at UNCG while completing my Masters in
Spanish Education and taught there for four years.
Before that I worked in industry as a Spanish/English translator.
I have lived in Argentina and have traveled throughout Mexico, Spain,
Guatemala, Honduras, Puerto Rico and Costa Rica. This last summer I spent seven
weeks traveling and studying in Spain. I
have both attended and presented at Foreign Language Teaching Conferences,
helped grade the Spanish AP test, and maintain a Spanish Web Page. My experiences have given me a good background in language
and in teaching. You are in good
hands. I
am here from 8 to 8:30 AM to assist you with any of your learning needs (as a
Northwest soccer coach, my afternoons are pretty much booked in the Spring).
Please feel free to come see me with any problems you are having in my
class and we will work on them together. You should though make an appointment
if you need to see me so I know when and why you are coming to see me.
You or your parents may also email me at sotht@gcsnc.com or contact me at
school at 605-3300. You
are going to have one of the greatest educational experiences improving your
Spanish in my classroom! You will
better productive language skills as you continue to use Spanish in a variety of
circumstances. You will be
improving a life skill that will help you to be more successful in today’s
world. The following pages outline
the course program, goals, and grading system in this class.
Knowing these things is your first step to achieving excellence in my
class. ˇBienvenidos! |
